I have been practising obstetrics and gynaecology for almost 20 years, with the past decade dedicated exclusively to the NHS. I am currently a Consultant Gynaecologist at Homerton University Hospital, where I work within the hospital’s BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Centre, caring for women with complex gynaecological conditions.
My clinical practice focuses on benign gynaecology and advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I regularly manage conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts and heavy or abnormal menstrual bleeding, offering both medical and surgical treatment options depending on each patient’s needs. I have a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of endometriosis, including laparoscopic excision and ablation, and I am experienced in supporting women with pelvic pain and fertility concerns.
I aim to provide clear, supportive and personalised care, helping patients understand their condition and the treatment options available to them. This often begins with careful assessment and diagnostic procedures such as hysteroscopy or laparoscopy, and where needed, I offer minimally invasive surgical treatments to support recovery and long-term outcomes.
I graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 2004 and completed my specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at Ain Shams University Hospital, one of the largest tertiary centres in the country. After obtaining my MD in 2013, I was appointed as both a consultant and clinical lecturer, combining clinical practice with teaching and academic work.
I moved to the UK in 2016 and joined the NHS, gaining membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2018. Since then, I have further specialised in benign gynaecology and advanced laparoscopy, completing RCOG Advanced Training in both benign gynaecology and outpatient hysteroscopy. I also undertook two years of fellowship training in endometriosis and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
I am certified as a Minimal Invasive Gynaecologist by the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) and remain actively involved in training and education. I am a regular faculty member and examiner for the GESEA programme and certification exams run by the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), supporting the development of future specialists in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
In my clinical practice, I offer a wide range of investigations and treatments tailored to each patient. These include diagnostic laparoscopy to help identify causes of pelvic pain or infertility, hysteroscopic procedures such as polyp removal and fibroid resection, and both laparoscopic and open surgery for conditions such as fibroids and ovarian cysts. I also support women with hormonal and medical management for conditions like PCOS and heavy menstrual bleeding, as well as providing options such as endometrial ablation, hysterectomy, and laparoscopic sterilisation where appropriate.
